Flat Pattern Won't Flatten

I have been beating my head off the wall attempting to get a part to flat pattern. Does anyone know why I get pieces hanging out in space? I have tried many different ways and either end up with pieces in space or pieces at right angles to the flat pattern.

When you are cutting walls in sheetmetal and you have walls that overlap as you have in your model, you need to unbend the wall before cutting so you don't sever the other walls. That's why you have floating wall pieces.
