How do I use relations in an assembly to drive parameters of of its components?

simple - you must use component "id" for each dimension which comes from it

I suppose this should be under Show mwnu in Relations window

You could also control it from a layout file. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, it could either be perfect or not so much.

You could use Pro/PROGRAM, I have used it in very simple assemblies and parts as well as some very complex large assemblies.

You need Advanced Assembly Extension to run Pro/PROGRAM
