I have a model with a decal on it. What format can I export the model to so that it retains the decal? I've tried vrml and step fomats but neither retain the decal in the model.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the decal is put on to a surface in SolidWorks and it is through SolidWorks that the position of the decal and link to the decal is maintained. Therefore exporting to another format such as a STEP file, the link will be lost as the STEP only contains the 3D data, not decal data.
When I wanttext on a rapid prototype part, I do a sketch and do a extrude cut to "engrave" the information on to the part. It's not the same as a decal but it might be a work around for you.
