Exclude a file from saving

Is it possible to exclude a file from the save process? This would mean I won't have part.prt.10000 of a part that is not gonna change.

Try the save_objects setting in config.pro. We have ours set to changed. My guess is yours is set to all.

I remember looking for this now. I actually set it to changed and specified, but I still have objects that haven't been touched being saved. Go figure.

I tried the same option you have it set to and got some similar results. Aside from using save the only thing I can think of that is happening is that feature is being regenerated causing a change when you open the file.

One more reason why parts are marked as changed by ProE/Intralink is when a part A has references to another part B which has been changed.
When you regenerate part A you'll notice the part is being 'recalculated' because ProE sees the referenced part B has been changed. It will regenerate part A regardless of what has been changed in part B. It only sees the version of part B referenced from part A is a different one than the last time part A has been regenerated. This is one of the best benefits of parametric modeling!

BTW We set every specific revision of a part (e.g. a final version which is not going to change) to 'released' and lock it so that it can't be checked back in by a user. This prevents unwanted changes.
