Duak monitor with WF3 and xp 64 bit

Hi,

I have a machine that should work with wf3 xp 64 bit(Dell PWS490, ATI Fire GL V7200) and dual monitor as per PTC testing. However when I use the 2nd monitor in Pro/E wf3 ...the system crashes on me...<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Anybody who had similarproblems?

I've called PTC customer support ...they weren't---> much help...

Thanks

I use dual monitors in XP64, but I have no problems with my Quadro.

Suggestions:
- Try the latest graphics drivers from ATI/AMDs homepage.
https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/ firegl/firegl-winxp64-047761.exe

- If that doesn't help, try older drivers.
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp64/fireglprevious-xp64. html

- Try changing which monitor is the primary in the display properties.

If that doesn't help, I'd make a ruckus until I got the FireGl replaced with a Quadro. I have had a lot of problems with ATI cards but never with nVidia.

We run wildfire (1) here and we have had problems with pro-e and dual monitors. Any time we change the color of the part/model pro-e crashes.

We have called PTC and we get that we need to upgrade to the latest version. The usual soulution from them.

Our work around has been to change the properties on the monitors to use one, change color of part and then turn dual monitors back on.

Our IT department is looking into another soulution but they have not found any yet.

We are runningan NVIDIA Quadro FX 1300 on an Intel Pentium 3.20GHz. with 1GB of Ram. Maybe its the video cards? I wonder if anybody else has had the same problems?

Thank you guys for your replies,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

MichailS, I had to upgrade the driver for my ATI card ...Pro/E w3 was crashing several times per day even with a single monitor till I've upgraded it.

I've called even Dell and asked them for some suggestions ...they did run some tests on my workstation and everything looked fine.

I am pretty sure that my company won't spend another $1000 for the video card just to help me run W3 on the 2nd monitor...

I have no problems with the other programs (like AutoCAD, office, outlook)running on the 2nd monitor....just pro/e w3....

The weird thing is that my colleague has a dual monitor on 32 bits system and W3 runs fine on both and he has an older video card than mine...

Well, this is not a matter of that your company should pay to get you new gear, this is a matter of that your computer is broken.

You paid to get a computer that can do a certain set of standard tasks, such as running 3D CAD on dual screens. This is a fact, software and hardware has had that capability for many years now so it is not extra luxury fluff. Your computer can't do that so it is faulty.

I suspect either a hardware failure in the vidcard or driver problems - although you have already concluded that the latter is improbable since you already run the latest drivers.

Make a fuss with Dell. You're a professional customer with special needs and should not have to settle for less than what you paid for.

What tests were they running, really? Anything stressing OpenGL on dual screens?
