Drawing: things I can’t manage

Hello,

I'm from Pro/E and pretty new
to Solidworks. I am experiencing some problems.

1. Whenever I dimension
a diameter from the outside of the circle (arrow pointing towards the center), I
have a line crossing the circle. I only want an arrow ending at the edge of the
circle, no line crossing it.

2. Whenever I add tolerances, the nominal
dimension is next to the lower tolerance. I want it in the middle of both
tolerances.

3. How do you break a line? I tried the "trim entites" option
but it did not work.

I played a lot with the options and managed to solve
a lot of my first problems. But I am stock with the ones I mentioned above.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks a lot!

For 1 and 2 see Tools -> Options. Make your settings.
For 3... I am not sure what you intend.
If you design a sketch, (as far as I know) you can't break a line. So you must delete it then draw as many lines as you need and make them COLINIAR. If you provide more informations some one will be able to help you.

Good luck !

I did the Tools/Options thing. I went to dimensions, where I could manage a bit the appearance of the dimensions.

But I did not see what could solve my problem. There's always a line
crossing the circle and I cannot put the dimensions between boths
tolerances. As for the breaks, I meant breaking a leader when it crosses
a dimension line for exemple.

Here's a picture relating all my problems.

I feel a little stupid here... the way you explain it everything's supposed to be very simple, but I don't see any PROPERTIES option.

Anyone can help me? I really need those lines out of the circle...
Thanks

I think I can answer a couple of your questions. The
easy answer to fix several of your dimension line
problems is to change your drafting standard to ansi.
That is the top item in the document properties. If you
can't do that, when you click on a dimension in the
drafting view the feature manager on the side should
change. This is where all your options for the
dimensions are.18_083502_feature_ma nager.jpg">
Select the leaders tab. Once in the leaders tab, go
under the heading witness/leader display. For the
diameter dimension you should see a group of eight
buttons. The button on the bottom right will get rid of
the line through the circle. as for the breaking of the
lines, you will see farther down the screen a heading for
Break Lines. You set the options under this heading. I
hope this helps.

Nothing is very simple. And my intend is not to feel you stupid. Sorry if you understand that. From your shot I see that you do not right click on DIMENSION (20 value). You right click in a wrong place. If you right click the DIMENSION (20) you will see a menu where MUST BE a "Properties" option to choose. Maybe you can't find the answer for your question, but I try to point you in the right direction (as far as I can do that). Another one, maybe using my feedback, can send you the really solve. I use 2007 (yet) because my system do not support newer versions. So I can send you the 2007 view point, nothing more.

My "status" on this forum is MVP. This is the result of number of posting, not for my skills. About 75% of my postings are questions, not answers. So... hope you understand.

Good luck, and be sure: I try to help you. And I will try again. If I can do that I am glad to help you, if not... that is.
