drawing from sketches

does anyone know if its possible to create a drawing without a
part? I mean like floorplans and more civil
engineering drawings ? I have tried by first creating a sketch
but later I could not open a sketch in a drawing.

you can do 2d "sketchs"/drawings using the lines, circles, etc, in drawing mode. make a new drawing, without a model in session, and you are good to go. If you have models in session, just go in to the drawing options and delete the model . Hope that helps.

CANNOT USE TOOLS SUCH AS DIMENTIONING, COPYING AND MANY OTHER SKETCHING

Well, I suppose it is always possible to use a model.



Take your sketch and extrude it with some improbably small thickness,
say 1" on a 100' x 50' bldg. Then you can use your relations and
sketches and all the other power of pro/e that I miss so much now that
I'm stuck in AutoCR*P hell.





N.B.: You might have to fiddle with thickness and global accuracy to keep pro from complaining every other regen.

Just make sketched datum curves or cosmetic features. Then you have a parametric model without solid geometry. But really, if all you want are 2D floorplans, etc., Pro/E is not the best tool for the job.

You can create a sketch in a 3d model, and use that model for a drawing.

Thereis some hidden drawing functionality left over from the 2001 days.


Add the following lineto your config.pro


mapkey sketch #DONE/RETURN;#CREATE;#SKETCH;


Run the mapkey within your drawing and a new menu will appear on the right. There's quitea lot of stuff in here that you don't seem to be able to do with the new parametric style drawing tools.


The>construction >offset command is particulalry useful.
