Hi all, Happy New Year!

Hey, I've been wondering if your company uses any of the "agencies" such as GlobalSpec, MFGQuote, Thomas Register, etc. to find work....

Last year we've lost few major contracts due to things beyond our control and there's not too much happening in this corner of woods (BC, Canada) to fill the gap. So we are considering using any of the above as potential source for work - I would love to hear your opinions on that.
We're aerospace certified shop if that matters, but we do some commercial work too.

Now, I hope this doesn't sound like a plug in here; I'm simply looking for some feedback that may help us to make good business decision.

Thanks!

Marker4x4,

These agencies cost moneyThe company I work for paid over $8000 toThomas Reg. and we never got one job from that $8000!!

Mfg is about $6000 We did a trial and bid on jobs only to find out that all of our quotes where double or triple the mfggoing rate!!(once again no work panned out)

As for GlobalSpec I have never tried anything with them!

We are A high end aerospace shop and commercial over 40 cncmachines We do have competive rates in our area D.C. ,Baltimore

That is just our experiencies others may vary!

we tried global spec and are now nearing the end of 2 years with mfgquote.

Our experiences have been mixed. We are a molding company serving medical electronic and aerospace clients. The only jobs we have received have come from mfgquote and they we only because w3e low balled the quotes. we never did get anything from globalspec. We spent a total of $16000 in this folly and will put future funds elsewhere. The concept sure sounds good but I think that most of the buyers using these services are just looking for price; not quality, not service and certainly not a long term relationship.
