Default Start Part

Hey all-

I know how to use part/asm templates for various different setups, but I'm trying to find out how to change the properties of the "default template".

what do you mean by properties? do you mean parameters, features, views, layers etc?

If you want to change the template part/asm just open it up and modify it. Make sure you save again as the same extension version that is listed in your config.pro.

I usually save them as non versioned files liketemplatepart.prt instead of templatepart.prt.1, you have to take the extension off in windows explorer.

I'm not really saying this right.

I know how to control various templates for parts/drawings/etc.

What I am refering to is the DEFAULT TEMPLATE. As in when you create a new part and you leaved checked the "Use Default Template" box & dive right into the new part. I have plenty of custom template files and I can control them just fine. How do I get to the DEFAULT TEMPLATE to change it's properties? (properties = anything and everything)

The biggest reason for my question is that for me, the DEFAULT TEMPLATE creates parts in metric units, & I would find out how I can change it to the ProE default (in-lbm-s).

In your config.pro, template_drawing or template_solidpart should tell you which one & where it is. If not, add this option & create one for it.

Thanks mgnt8.

Believe it or not, I stumbled upon the default part about 5 min after I last posted and fixed the problem I was having. Im glad I know how to change config variable too as I've got my sheetmental default pointing to an old startpart that is out of date.
