CUTTING A HELICAL PROTRUSION

This is driving me crazy, I can't sleep and I need a solution.



I have a helical protrusion that I need to cut (flatten off) the top and bottom off, (see picture datums 'top edge' and 'bottom edge').

I'm using Proe2001 foundation so I cannot use any surfacing.



The finish part is to be used as a merged cutout in a housing.



I will upload the part as soon as a figure out how to do it. I think I'm heading for a melt down. Bring back Autocad LT97.

You can't cut it only referencing only the datum planes?
