Creating Knockouts

imperial

New member
I'm using Pro/e Wildfire 2.0. How do you create knockouts in sheetmetal? When I create the second knockout the first one turns into a thru hole.

You should post it in sheet metal.

Anyway.... Create a punch (for the knockout) as a regular solid model, Create UDF for the punch, Create a form in sheet metal using the punch, exclude surfaces that should be removed.

In your case the punch should be designed in such a way that the knockout is joined to the parentmetal in two or three points...

Create "unattached" walls for each knock-out. That's what I do. I also generally have them slightly offset.

Creating un attached walls may serve the purpose, but not the recommended way. Knockouts are made with tool available on the press shop. When you use a tool you standardize the shape and size across the company, thus precluding variety. Secondly you need not create unattached walls everytime.
