Corner feed in Traj. Sequences

Hiall,

I'm stuck on this:

- for simplicity sake, imagine cutting walls in a pocket. The pocket has been modeled with .375" corner radius. I want to use 3/4" dia. endmill. To avoid "dead stops" in each corner, I specify .01 radius in Param. page and then add CORNERS in the Customise window.

- Also in Param. page I change the value of Arc_Feed_Control (<<-- post edited by Marker) parameter that alters (e.g. slows down) the feed while cutting arcs (in my case corners) to Tool Perimeter.

- I add Lead-in and out.

- The feed is indeed different on the Lead-in/-out rads, but not in the corners.

I hope it makes sense, does anyone have solution to this?

Thanks,

Hi marker
the radius u have created in model is smaller than cutter radius.so u need to giv a radius larger than toolradius in parameters , not .1. u can giv toolradius +0.1 i feel.

Make sure that the "corner type" in your customize window matches the "corner type" in your parameter page. I just duplicated your problem, added "concave / fillet" corners. In the parameter page, I set Concave_radius to .010, Cut_feed to 60, and Arc_feed to 10. I get the feed rate change at each corner.

Can't do that, I'm working with imported (mostly CATIA) geometry. Aerospace stuff; I'm not allowed to modified anything...

Hi
u need not modify . u try giving the value of corner radius grater than tool radius in the parameter tree.
as smooth radius .in volume milling.

Allan,

you're right (as usual

) but I was trying to get the Arc_feed_Control parameter to work on corner radii - just to make the program to calculate proper surface feed in corners automatically. Does that work for you???

Thanks,

I have never used this parameter. Unless you enter a value into Arc_Feed, it doesn'tchange the feed rate at all. Once you enter a value, that becomes the feed rate for all arcs, regardless of size. I don't even know why they have this parameter at all.

It does change the feed rate on G02's and G03's even with Arc_Feed set to (-); I've just tried. It calculates the rate so the Surface Feed stays constant, I think.
However, it does not change the feed rate on the Corners in Traj. Sequence and that's what bothers me....
