I am modeling a basic spring using helical sweep and my spring looks fine as long as I stay in 3d but I am unable to hide the back lines when I am in the mode that calls for a wire frame with hidden or dotted back lines. On the screen, the definition lines appear purple.

This is a step by step of my faulty method
I create a helical sweep using doted vertical centerline and a vertical line a distance removed. When prompted for a cross section, I have tried using both my desired cross section and a strait horizontal line. When I use a strait horizontal, I follow this up by inserting a variable section sweep then drawing my rectangular cross section on the horizontal element.
Both methods have constantly visible boundary lines. If anyone could tell me how to correct my method or use a different method, I would be grateful.
