Anguler Head on 3 axis Machine

Hi Guys

I want to machine a cavity with angular head on a 3 axis machine. But I must use Pro to generate nc program, Can anybody guide me how to do it? I dont want to re orient the head or head's angle, I just want to use ball nose in at 30 degree or something.

Zaki,

I tried to answer you problem but evidently the system did not work.

Unless you have the part setting on a rotary table, it cannot do what you

want without moving the part everytime you want to cut another surface

not parallel to the cutter axis.

Hi Dear

I dont want to move axis all time. Its just kind of right angle attachement that we can put on spindle in leu of tool and put tool in attachement. problem is that, I want to machine a cavity with this attachement. The problem is,I cant make program by hand, bcoz surface is not linear, but its curvy. how can I machine it on WF2 or 3?

We have used right angle and 45 degree heads on 3 axis machines. Just create a csys with Z pointing to in the direction of your head. Also, make sure that ALL rapid moves are set to a feed. You don't want the tool under something when Z decides to retract using the machine csys.

Your operation will still use a csys inline with your machine Z axis. The sequence will have what I call a "vector" csys. It just tells the system how to make Z moves inline with your angle head.

Sorry, I have been away for awhile. The only way that I know how to do this requires a special "tool attachment" in tool definition of the NC sequence, and maybe some special codes in the post processor. I have never done this, but here is where I found out the information.

In Proe, on the top toolbar, select Help, then Help Center. When it opens, select Global Search. In the "Search" dialog box, select "Manufacturing", then the right arrow to add it to the "Selected Functional Areas" list. Then type in "tool attachments" in the "Search for" box, (make sure you have included the quotes). Then select Search.

The first two items in the list should be "About tool attachments" and "To create a tool attachment". This explains how to use a special tools that re-direct the CL data.

I hope this helps.

Zaki,

I do not care what software you want to use you cannot mechanically cut a cavity

without a rotary table, re mounting the head or reseting the part.
