Adding a parameter in the family table

Hi,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I'm trying to add a parameter in a family table of a library (the fasteners library).

I can see the parameter in the family table and use the component from the library using the parameter in a BOM.

After I delete the generic part from the session and try to reopen it the parameter disappears. Any idea why?

Is there any way to keep this parameter in the family table of the library?

Thanks,

What I have found in the past is that when multiple people are using the fasteners, any changes I make are ignored. If you ensure that no-one else is using the fasterner, add the parameter & save, it should be OK.

Hi everyone,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

What I found that for some reason it keeps loading the original part from the library. It saves the file that I modify but it doesn't load it. If I move the original file somewhere else it loads my latest one.

Really strange ....

MichaelB,
- does this newly saved file exist among your files ?
- does a file of your part exist in your database without revision number ? ProE will grab this one. (I am not 100% sure, so you better test it )

Are you using a PDM system or are you just saving the files to disk !? - If you are using a disk to store your files, the problem is that when you starting ProE, it will generate a due to the search path's you have a list of files in this search path. And when removing the modified file from session, you must most likely restart ProE to be able to find the modified file..

Hi Reinhard,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

That's exactly what happens...I have this file without revision # and it grabs that one when I open the file...not my latest one ...but if I move that file somewhere else I have my latest one opened...I'm just wondering why Pro/E keeps that file without any revision #.

Hi Patrick,

I have the licence saved on the server and all the files go on the server...

Hi MichaelB
this seems to be one of the secret admin tricks to force users to use a specific version of the part, dont know if its mentioned in documentation.
At least someone did it, certainly not ProE. This file will not be affected by purge.
