How to reset xyz panel in CATPart (Catia)

Dear ALL:

isn't possible and how to reset the X/Y/Z axis value for a part that save under CATPART (solid model)?

millions thanks in advances.

as i remember...

if it is a solid, use "translate" & "rotate" (transformation under Part design workbench) to relocate it

if it is a surface, use "axis system tranformation" (something like that, i cannot remember the actual name since i no longer use catia), which can be found in Generative shape design workbench

Part Designworkbench is anyway not as powerful asGSD

Dear gvi70000, dicksham

thanks for your reply.

actually i not the catia designer, i use the model that design from my subsidiary, and publish it to web.

For what i doing is
copy each individual component and paste it to new part component and
save under ".CatPart" and export to ".wrl", VRML. By usign VRML, i can
publish the component to web and allow my customer to view it through
internet.

What i get from my subsidiary is a model of one engine (for example), which include a lot of sub-component and save under ".model". But the XYZ plane was preset, and i can't find a way to reassign the xyz plane value so that the sun-component will rotate only in the center of each screen.
Before save to "wrl", i try use the "PAN", "ROTATE" function in the catia to align the component to center, but when i view back to the "wrl" file i exported, the xyz panel does not reset accordingly.

What i going to do is: to allow user to rotate the sub-component in the center of screen in web with vrml file format.

Have u have any ideas why when i open the "model" file and the "save" feature menu was is Grey color?

millions thanks again,

your situation should be like this...

you open a V4 model file in Catia V5, but find the system
origin not at the middle of /near the model. You want to
move the model towards the origin. Am i right?

if yes, here may be the solution ( i cannot prove it
right, because i am not a catia user anymore)

Since the imported file has become a dead solid, you can
drag "the compass" from top right corner to the model.
The compass will turn to green. You can then move the
model anywhere by the compass (drag along a line/ an arc
of the compass)

PAN/ROTATE/ZOOM never change the model's position and its
size; just change your eye's position.

thanks dicksham

"the compass" mean the xy/yz/zx panel?

i try it, but not able to move.

drag the red dot of the compass onto the model...

the compass turns from grey to green. at that time, you can
move the model by the compass

Thanks dicksham.

i try it alre...but it was not move the xyz panel.

I attached a screen shot. How can i move the "A" to "B" (inside/center of the component.)

i want adjust the length between point "A" and "B".

thanks

xyz panel never moves. their intersection is the system
origin (0,0,0).

you can only move the model, move B to A.

Drop the compass onto the model, "B"

dicksham..sorry to trouble u...

i drop the compass to the model.....but it was not able to move the position. but for sub-assembly yes....u can move the position that link to main-components..

since the xyz panel never move, can i move the component to system origin (0,0,0)

this i mentions.... but can i do this in "CATPart" or other other?

thanks.

chusoon

yes , you can move a solid in a PART file.

no need to do this in an Assembly file.
The imported solid is dead, and independent, which is free
to drag by compass

dicksham yes.....i able to move the component....

but it was abit difficult to move the component.

millions thanks dicksham..............

switch to top view, drag the component to the location,

then switch to front view, drag it upward/downward to the location.

it is much easier to relocate it in 3d view
