draw a v-thread

New member
hello everybody

I have a problem about V-thread. I drew this V-thread with Solidworks 2008. I wanna do V-thread with 10 mm pitch. Firstly, I drew a 50 dia; helix with 10 mm pitch and 5 revolutions.
And then, I extrude 50 mm hight with a 50 mm dia; cycle. Finally, I do Sweep Cut with a base lenght 10 mm triangle. SolidWorks can not do this 10 mm triangle. So, I tried Sweep Cut with a 9.96 mm lenght triangle. It is ok.
But I don't wanna this pitch 9.96 mm V-thread. I exactly wanna to do a pitch 10 mm V-thread. What can I do that. Please, everybody help me.

with my best regards,
mr.maung

Your pitch IS EXACTLY 10mm.

It is your THREAD FORM that is 9.96.

It wont work because you can not create zero thickness geometry.

If you draw your thread with proper thread form (crest root angle etc)
and have it so the sketch does not touch itself when revolved - it will
work.

You could also draw the minor diameter and then extrude sweep the exact form you currently have and it would work.

I can't give you examples because your SW is older than mine.
