Hi,

this is my first post but hopefully not my last

Im currently producing a machining drawing from a machined
casting model, the part has a lot of features and what i
would like to do is hide different features in different
views on the same sheet to aid clarity.

is there a way of doing this in Pro/e

Regards

I really don't recommend doing this.
This will create confusion for the drawing reader about actual shape of part.
I suggest to put more views to make every feature clear and create multiple sheets to accomodate all views.
Create sections/details to make everything clear.
I know, casting drawings are always very complicated!

There is an option to hide some feature (But it also depends on how your model is built> parent-child relations): It can be done by using simplified representation in model

Hi Rob,

You could use simplified reps in part mode. You would have to create a rep for every machining step you want to show on your drawing. If it's a very complex casting it may get a little confusing, but I imagin you'll be able to handle it. When you insert the view into the draiwng select the representation you wan to show in the view states section of the view properties.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your suggestion, once i realised i had to load
the modified rep into the drawing it worked a treat.

Much appreciated

Hi Scion-Sprays,

I agree with s_pme20.

It's not a good practice to continue with that.
You can create views for each feature even if you want
and focus only areas for which you want to give details.

If you want to proceed like how you asked, you can do it
with family table also.

make as no of instances by suppressing the features and
call each instances in the drawing sheet and dimension
it.

Regards,
Rajiv.

hi,

generally i have no need for hiding features when producing
the machining drawings but it due to the position and
multitude of other local feature it was needed to rigidly
define what machining Operations where required first.

Thanks for your input though as it is all welcomed
