Finding grouped components in Model Tree

USG-CY

New member
Hello everybody, We're working with WF5 (Creo Elements). I've got the following question for you:

Is there a way to find a grouped component in your model tree? I would like to select the component in the modeling screen, then use some kind of mapkey to show it in the model tree.

So it should always pop-up, even when it's in a group in a subassembly.

Looking forward, to see all your sollutions!

Dear USG-CY
Whenever you form a group , then there is always (+) symbol on the left of it.
Just click it , You will get all the components in it

Thanks for your replies, but but that's not the way I need.

When I have a assembly on my screen, I see a washer in it and want to know the location of this washer in my model tree. I don't know where it is in my model tree. There could be 30 groups in the model tree. I don't want to open each and every group to find it. I want a button/mapkey with a name like: FIM"Find In Model tree".

Offcourse I know where to find the Find-function. But then I have to do a lot of "click's" and type in the model name. When there are something like 100 washers in different groups, the find-function will find them all.... Not that specific one I highlighted in my model.

I hope my question is more clear now.

Thanks in advance!

Cyriel

sorry..i misunderstood your question before..it's very clear now what you want.
Finding component within group is difficult!
If it is in sub assembly it's easy by option: select parent and find it in model tree.
Let's wait, till experts say something about this!

You need the "one" icon.

With this icon, you can select a model or feature on the
screen, then hit the icon and it will jump right to it in
the model tree!

Go to tools/Customize Screen
Then to the Commands tab, select View under the
categories. Scroll almost all the way down on the Commands
lists on the right until you find the icon that says
"one". Drag that to a place on your icon tray. (Be careful
to choose the icon with the white dot, not the dark dot)

great..

Hi Nate,

your tip almost sounds like a practical joke,....

But perhaps it's a "Custom made"-button made at Brock Solid Design? If so, can you post the mapkey text from your config.pro

Nate,

You're the best! I wasn't in assembly mode but in drawing mode, so I couldn't find it. Now I did! Super.

For the rest: Thanks for thinking with me!

WINNER

I couldn't live without this.

What about the other way around. I would like to select a part in the tree, then have the screen view zoom into the part. Inventor has a command by right-clicking and selctiong "zoom to". Anything like this in Creo/ProE?
