We at design engine are getting proactive during the recession. I had the Design engine http://www.deepinteractive.com web development team create this online resume posting section for us Pro/ENGINEER users to show off our work to each other. Consider building your resume complete with screen shots of past projects!

When you create your online resume, you don't have to put your complete resume up there. Make if available upon request. A short paragraph stating that your looking for after hours 'work images' and pictures is fine.

After you create a login then you can go back and later modify your resume post by adding 'work images' multiple times. In order to get your picture resume live you will need to use 'publish'. Pass the link around.

no comments? Someone has to think having screen shots associated to your resume is a bad idea? or something.

Does anyone think this resume posting addition complete with screen shots like we have it is too oriented to obtaining employment therefore would not create an online account because your boss might find it and think your looking for work elsewhere?

I think that having an option to have screen shots is good because it allows for a more personalized feel which is difficult to do with just words. Anyone disagree?

Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. There's a reason we make drawings of our parts instead of writing essays for the shop!

Yes, I think adding screenshots can demonstrate skills quicker and easier than just words. I don't think my supervisor would think I'd be looking for another job if he found it. That being said, I've always liked the word "portfolio". To me it impliesa showcase of talent without the direct implication of job hunting.

Problem with it is that most resume's are run through scanners these days that scan for keywords. If you're dealing one on one with a person then showing the portfolio is great, if you're applying for a job online you're probably just dealing with a computer. Bring the portfolio to the interview for sure though.
