Creating a split

I have a component that is a split ring. I have the O.D.
and I.D. and even how the split should look. The issue is
that the split is just like a knife cut where it matches
exactly and then always touches. Is there a way to create
this?

I didn't think it was possible, but here it is, assuming this is what you want. Make 180 rotation surface, cap one end, merge, mirror,merge,solidify. Looks like touching ends but don,t know what it means!

Convert ring to sheetmetal part, then create rip.
