Alternative Data Management Software

I'm probably going to move to Design Data Manager, but am concerned about what happens if we decide to move back to a standard manual Windows based file management system as there are only two engineers at the moment. How easy is it re-structure things using Design Data Manager so that it is organised with Windows directories and file paths?

DesignDataManager stores all files to a 'Vault'. Access to these files is controlled by the database, and the file names are encrypted. The key here is that the database controls the files and you do not have to spend time searching for them or worrying that you are using the latest version.. etc etc.. However a script can be run to show you all the paths and mappings to the Vault files.

In additionnative CAD filescan be exported from DesignDataManager back to Windows directories, all links are retained. So exporting a top level assembly will export the assembly and all dependant files.

Main question is why you would decide to move back to manual windows based file management and all the nightmares that entails!!!
