animation time doesnt add up

hmm
can anyone tell me the coralation between when i set the animation time and the actualy one, when i play my video in media player?

i set animation time of about 40 seconds.
render frames of 50 fps (from the capture window)

when playing the animation i got about 10 seconds of video.
(this one is a little stuffed as pc crashed @ almost the end of the animation. but i did notice things moving much much faster than they should)


i then tried some default times.
10 second duration (animation)
25 fps (from capture window)
resulted in 4 seconds of video. ....

ok here is something.

anim time fps(on capture) rate (next to anim time) playback(mplayer)
10 25 10 4
10 50 10 2
10 25 20 8
10 25 25 10

so basically upped the rate to 25 to get 1 animation second = 1 playback second.

oh u always have to hit the "record" button any time u update stuff.
