Rendering an animation, rendering question

Supposing one finally, finally gets his mechanisms sorted out and is ready to make a final animation, how does one go about setting up the animation so that each frame is rendered?

On another note, I went through the painful task of trying to use textures and surface maps once in an earlier version of pro, and gave up in frustration because of the terrible results. Has this become any easier/better in wildfire? Would like to give our automotive transmission parts a realistic look with aluminum, steel, cast iron etc materials and surface mapping. I'm running WF1 currently.

And finally, has anyone found a way to render a semi-transparent object to look good? It looks awful in the test renderings I have done. Any tricks?
