Using sur(faces) from other part

vide

New member
Hello there,

I'm a newbe in unigraphics but I already have experience with pro e and solidworks. Now I want to use (sur)faces from an imported part (Solids) to make a new part. What is the best way to get these surfaces? (Importing as step, iges?)

I tried to make a copy but this wasn't possible from a solid model.

In pro e there is an option to copy geometry form a different part/assembly in a new part. Is this also possible in Unigraphics?

Thanks!!

In UG you can copy the surfaces of a DUMB body both in part as well as through assembly in a part. Import the body into a new part. now select the tool "Extract Geometry" and select faces option. Now you can select the required surfaces.

Through the assembly, you add the imported part in the assembly. now add a new part and select tool wave link geometry. Through this you can get the surfaces of other part into the current part.

please let know if this suffuces the need or you need some more info.
