Editing subassembly in main assembly

I have one problem here and don't know how to solve it.

I'm working on a project. A demand here is that all of the hydraulic components are in one subassembly. The problem is that I can't mate them together before I insert this subassembly in main assembly.
Because of this I had to mate components of this subassembly in main assembly, I turned subassemly from rigid to flexible so I could do it.
One thing that is bothering me is that I have parts of subassembly defined in main assembly but when I open subassembly, parts are floating and are all over the place because they don't have those mates anymore.
Is it possible to relate this subassembly to main assembly, so when I open my subassembly only all parts will be where they need to be??
