Help! how to reduce localised stress?

I've just anaylised a simple cantilever beam using COSMOWORKS, and noticed that no matter how much increased in the thickness or height of the beam, there is always this localised stress point at the edge of the restraint which is always very much (~3 times or more) higher than the average value. I wonder is it a bugs of the software? Anyone have encounter this problem? Please help!
 
You need to add a fillet between the wall and the cantilever been to reduce the stress concentration where it forms a 90 degree angle. You will also need to refine the mesh so at least three elements cover the arc length of the fillet.

Run the analysis again, and try using the h-adaptive mesh option, or mesh control inside CosmosWorks. This is not available in ComosXpress.
 
Wow! Using fine element on the fillet, and h-adaptive mesh option really help. The localised stress is now about 1.5 times higher. Thanks you c_thompson_68

As I was always told: do everything you can to reduce stress risers. Which usually equates to turning something with a square corner to a round one. Square corners are just the start of a crack.
