Ok I am 17, a senior in high school, and am interning at a national lab. I am currently modeling a claw-like cutter and have modeled everything but the claws themselves. If you would like to help me, you can email me at [email protected] and i can send you pictures of the claw (for some reason i cannot upload them :(). I'm not asking anyone to do this for me, just some advice on how to start. :) thanks

these may not work but here are some images

I think the essence here is the right approach, same in all software.

So, IMHO the blade itself(pics as a base) is a simple extrude.

The cut on the blade could be done within few ways:

*simple cut with an arc profile + draft(take a look on this surfaces looks like it is drafted)

*sweep/loft with variable section - in this particular example the angle of cut is changed along trajectory

*Boundary blend
