PhotoWorks - Jumping Stage floor

Since PhotoWorks Release2 I very frequently encounter the following
problem:

The stage floor, instead of lying in the defined X-Z-plane, jumps in
height randomly, when components are (un)suppressed.
To achieve the desired result I have to manually adjust the offset each
time - a tiresome process, as only a render preview shows theeffect of my
changes.
This problem occured frequently on three different machines and
colleagues report the same.
Other problems include randomly disappearing materials, ridiculously
wrong shadows (e.g. square shadow cast by a round saucer!) and some
others.
The support claims that this is not reproducible for one year now.
We are seriously considering to abandon use of PhotoWorks at all. Same
is reported from at least one of Germanies Top5 design schools.

Can anyone help?
