I am going back to Solidworks after being on ProE for the last four years. Does the latest version of Solidworks have anyhting like ProE's Style command set?
If not is there a best practice for generating splines?
What's the reason that you switch from Pro/E to Solid Works for surface modeling?
I alwaysthought Pro/E is more powerfully for surfacing.
Maybe I'm wrong.
I have not found anything that lets you confirm you are getting a C2 surface like Style does in ProE but having said that they have many tools to check your surface quality like Zebra and Curvature.
The spline menu lets you control curvature and tangency, I have been able to create some complex styled components for ATV's with it and I believe it is actually easier to use then the style feature in ProE.
If you have any further questions let me know and I will see if I can help.
When you are on SW you can do a search for "continuous continuity" and it will bring up enough to get you started.
Hey I wrote that story. I think the new version of
Solidworks got some dope surfacing going on. I have been
busy but this week I will contact Solidworks for a copy for
review.
I consider myself a very high level surfacing consultant. I know
both Alias Studio at a high level - Pro/SURFACE and ISDX
- Solidworks surfacing has always suffered and this link is
impressive. I will try to get a reveiw written this month.
