show feature name in drawing?

Is it possible to parametrically display the name of a
feature (assuming that it has been named in the model tree)
in a drawing note or dimension callout so that it will
update if the name is changed?

thanks,
Bill

I can create a feature parameter and manually load it with
the value shown in the "feat name" field of the model tree,
but how can it be made associative with this field?

Since the feature name is a value that cannot be added to a family table or changed without renaming the feature, There would be no need to make it parametric. You can simply create a parameter called "Feature_Name" and manually give it the same value as the feature name.

This can then be used anywhere a parameter is used. If you change the feature name, you must also change the parameter value.

Well, the point is to not have to enter the same
information in two different places. There are many uses
for associativity besides family tables. Being able to
reference data contained in one part of the model in some
other area such as a drawing is extremely useful. In my
case, I am doing a part with many bolt patterns, and I have
labeled the many patterns with functional names to aid in
the model building process. At drawing time, it is
desirable to access this data (already created!) without
having to enter it all over again, thereby inviting not
only extra work, but possible errors and confusion and even
more work if some of the data needs to be revised. Pro has
created a lot of hooks for this sort of thing, so I'm
usually able to take advantage of them to create a highly
functional environment.
