Renaming in no graphics mode

Hi There,

Is
there anybody out there that has tried renaming assembly components
without having the assemblies in session using no graphics mode? I am a
well experienced Intralink user and do this all the time using
Intralink but have often wondered if it would be possible to do the
same thing using a bit of clever programming to do it via
the back door using no graphics mode.

Any ideas?

Another Question:

Can one rename assembly parts without having to have all relevant manufacturing drawings open? The way I understand it is that you wont be able to open the drawing if part names have changed while the drawing was closed.

I'm not familiar with "backdoor" intralink procedures but when working with ProE you can only rename parts when all relevantfiles are open. Even then your draft must have the same name as the part. Repairing assemblies and drawings that no longer "talk to eachother" due to renaming and copying is a daunting business.
