Hi,

I need the tolerance chart of ABS, PP, NYLON, PPCO plastic materials. As i need to give the tolerance for manufacturing point of view by highlighting the critical dimensions with specified tolerance! but i dont know wat range i had to give.

Pl help me

Hmm.... This is a problem in Engineering... You may choose
to go for IT9 or IT10 grades of tolerances for fit. For
general tolerances, you can use medium grade. Consult your
shop for the method of manufacture. The above are for
Injection Molding for ABS and PP. For other material the
tolerance will vary according to the shrinkage.
While on the subject... have a look at Dimbound... very
useful if you are going to make a mold.

I don't know which standard you use, but in Germany there is the standard DIN 16901 for plastics, which describes standard tolerances.

However, for 'small' injection moulded parts like e.g. mobile phone housings these tolerances are much too large, so in reality companies usually use their own product-specific tolerance requirements!

A good rule of thumb is that in general for this kind of parts a tolerance of
