three point constraints

Hi...

I need help with the three points constraints...

How to apply three point constraints on the part so that it fixed in the space?? any rules for applying the constraints?

heres an example:

pnt1 xyz (in xy plane)

pnt2yz (in toxy plane x direction)

pnt3z (offset iny from pnt1)

The easy way to think of it is point 2 and 3 MUST be free to approach point 1 which is fully locked.

In what kind of applications do we need three point constrains, can any one give an example.

Thanks in advance

Sari

Sari,

Any system that needs to have the 6 rigid body modes removed and no additional constraints will need this type of constraining system. It is very good for when all the loads put the system in static equilibruim. This is ideal.
