Swept blend problem with secondary trajectory.

Hi.
I had created a model with swept blend feature. I wish the top (end ) section has to be inclined a few degrees to the first section. I tried to do a draft, but it fails. I tried to control the taper with a secondary trajectory. But i am unable to solve.

Can any one help??

That is a bit of a challenge. I'm at work, so this is not an A+ job, but this is just one very quick way to throw it together.

Did I understand what you were trying to do? If this is good enough, great. The catch here is that this way you're not able to drive the angle of that top surface. The height of DTM1 is what drives it. So that's a bummer.

If you need to drive that angle by an angle value, let me know. I love a good challenge, so it's very possible I'll try again when I get home. Let me know how it works out.

The reason a second sweep isn't working is that it craps out around the sharper bends and intersects on itself. Pro/E hates when that happens.

the mentioned surface to be slope (i.e the second section has to be tilted by an angle.) Did i mean right??

So I'm still not 100% sure I'm understanding, so hopefully this is it. If not, maybe sketch something on a piece of paper and scan it or take a picture? But here's what I've got:

I personally think that v3 is better. But you lose a bit of tangency at the very top inner circle. I'm not sure the use of this, so maybe it's not critical. If you really need a c2 surface, let me know, and I'll keep chugging away. I'm pretty sure that v2 will crap out if you mess with it too much (less robust). But let me know how these work out.

I made one more that has some better tangency incorporated at the top. Again, not super pretty (I had to do some silly fix in there for it to fill out a blend).

Hi markkarz.,

Checked ur models. its quite interesting, that u have created a slope with a point in the middle. (some thing similar to a cone with its vertex in the centre and slope over the circumference. Nice work.

But the thing i wanted is that the slope is gradually from one end (larger surface to converging surface)

Is this what you need? I created an inclined surface then projected the top profile onto it. Then I created a boundary blend using the existing bottom profile & the new projected curve.

I didn't use the Swept Blend (I'm more comfortable using boundary blends)...so hopefully this works for you.

That's probably what you wanted. Should be very robust in that if you move the tilted sketch around you can do whatever you want with the top angle. Let me know if that works.

@g.king: I saw ur model in creo. This is exactly what i wanted. But i cant understand the process of extrude followed by the swept blend. can u explain in detail?
@markkraz: I opened ur model. but seems no display. only datum objects are visible. can tell what will be the problem??

the swept blend feature is just there from the original file I have just used it to project the boundary of the curves for the top and bottom profiles to make the boundary blend. It is not necessary for the model to work. Here is a cleaner version of the model. You will need to add some better defined control points to the boundary blend to get it exactly as you require.

The incline can be modified by changing the sketch in extrude 3. The boundary blend should follow.
