Step files with no color

I am creating STEP files from Wildfire 2.0 and sending them toAltium Designer (version Summer 08). The problem is the Step fileshaveone colorwhen imported into Altium Designer. I added 'step_appearance_layers_groups' and set the field to yes in my config.pro and still have the same result. The idea is to use existing Wildfire models on a pc board created in Altium Designer. What elsedo I need to do to gain color for the Altium Designer.

If you apply the color to faces of parts and components instead of entire model or solid geometry they should maintain colors when imported on another system.

make sure you choose ap214 and not ap203 for your step file conversions.

"AP 214 can manage colors and layers, AP 203 cannot."

no guarantee that would solve the problem for your downstream software, but it is a starting point...
