step file question (part colors)

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to create a step file for an assembly,but havethe step retain the colors for individual parts. Currently when I create a step file all the parts have the generic white color. Please help if you know a way. I appreciate your assistance. Thanks. Gil

I got it to work. In the config.pro file, set "step_appearance_layers_groups" to "yes". Now when my step file is exported and subsequently imported, the parts retain their color. I was able to answer my own question, but maybe this can help others who read it. Thanks, Gil in TX
