spline question

Checkmate

New member
i am trying to create a spline that has each end fastened tangentially to an edge that is being used. for some reaseon only one end of the spline will adopt the tangent state after trying to apply this tangent state by using the tangent option from the contraints dialogue box and selecting both the pline and the edge. does anyone have any idea why this isn't working?

Thanks,

Sketcher mode and Edge -> Use projection?

The constraint solver ~can~ be quirky and there are probably
defined (but not well know, at least to me) limitations.

Is the spline constrained Coincident to the end point of the
projection (should work) or Point on Entity somewhere mid-
span on the curve projection (won't work)?

You may have to resort to some alternative ...
_ Show the spline control polygon and constraint it
(with added benefit of allowing you to adjust the
tangent 'weight').
_ Create some construction goeometry constrained perp to
projected entities and spline perp to that. For Solid
type (Edge Use) curves you may have to Pick from List
and grab the underlying SectRefEnt.
_ Use angle dims instead of the tangent constraint
(almost SOP for conic arcs).

If all fails (haven't ever seen it, myself) you might
show a curvature analysis for the projected entity, see
if it's really 'dirty'. (Way down at the bottom of the
Analysis menu in Sketcher mode. Works only on Solid type
curve projections.)

thanks it seems to be working now. a joining arc that i put down before the spline seemed to disagree with it. the spline seems to adopt the tangent state if i put the joining arc down afterwardss.

strange.
