spin at center of the part

I was hoping that somebody could tell me if it's possible to move the
center of xyz so when rotate my part it will rotate at the center. I
had to create some datums about 1.500 inches off the part and now my
spinning center is not in the center of my part.

View > Reorient > under Type select 'Preferences' > Point or vertex > pick a point for new location of spin center.

But if you closed the model and reopened, it seems the spin center needs to be relocated...
