Part creation problems in assembly mode

Recently I added a number of seals and orings to a hydraulic assembly. I created the parts as solids from within assembly mode. I understood that I would be creating a part with external references, and that I would need the assembly in order to open the individual part files.

Something sounds askew. If you do not have seperate part files now, you are misunderstanding fundamentals. Pull up a backup. Post a pic of the model tree.


Before deleting anything; component, feature, etc., RMB -> Info -> Parent/Child. Click 'Filters'. Check'To Components in Reference Path' and look at Children.
