The views that you are seeing are pro-e's default template views, not the autocad views. First thing to check is the name of the autocad file. Make sure there are no spaces, special characters, etc... If the name is fine, then try to import it into a drawing and see if you get the same results.
 
I have found in the past that pro-e sometimes has problems with autocad p-splines. I have had to explode them and resave to get pro-e to open it. This is what I would suggest for you to try. Have your co-worker open the file and save as an autocad 2000 file. I have had the most luck with this method.
