model size function is inaccurate

Anyone else uses the Info -> modelsize function to drive csys to outermost geometry.. I use this to help dimension from a base csys to outermost geometry in drawings. My model ive been working on has a "stop sign" shape to it and when i run "model size" the values produced are to large by ~1.5 inches... just wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem or has any ideas on the background math behind this function.

I also recognized this issue. But in our company we never used this information. So I didn't care about that anytime.


But you're right - it would be nice to know the reasen for the inaccuracy.
