Mirror part dependent to independent

I have a part which I will mirror in assy mode. I would like to mirror
the part as dependent, but once mirrored I would like for the rest of
the added features to be independent of the mirrored part. For example
I want one part to have a c'bore and on the mirrored part to have a
c'bore hex shape. Everything else will be the same. I would also like
for the left part to update with any changes to the Right part except
for the hex shape of course. Thanks for your help.

Do exactely like you said, mirror the part, make it dependent, and then open the new mirorred part and make a c'bore hex shape on top of the existingc'bore. Now, if you constrainthe hex shape to be circumcised to the c'bore the hex shape will update if you change the c'bore diameter in the first part. If you don't constrain the hex shape to the orginal part you will have to update the hex every time you change the c'bore diameter.
