Mass Density vs Suppress

I am again perplexed. I was under the impression that I could reduce the density of a part to a minimum (1 x E-12 say) and it would act massless. But I find there is a difference between that and suppressing the part, when running Mechanism. Can someone explain this??

Please let me be more specific. In a Mechanism Dynamics simulation, when I change material from steel to aluminum, the forces reduce properly. But when I manually reduce the density of the part to nearly zero, I expect the forces to also go to zero. That doesn't happen -- in this case the forces are about halved. But when I "suppress" the part, the forces DO drop to zero. My question is: why the difference? Is it related to redundancies?
