Making a merged part independent

We use parts that are mergedfrom castings to make the finished machined parts.

We are copying them and making simplified versions of them forcustomer use, and do not need the original merged casting part to be referenced.

Is there away to make those features independent of the casting part?

Currently, we go to the base part (casting), and copy it, and add the machined features to it to get rid of the merged dependency. Very inefficient.

Anything we can do to make this easier?

We don't want to export it as a dumb model because we want the features to all be there.

The dependency of an external copy geometry feature (surface-solid surfs of the casting) can be turned on and off. To completely break the link export the casting surface model (surface-copy-solid) to a separate file and then import that and make cuts to create your as_machined model.
