Hi
Does anybody have experience with rolled parts? This is fundamentally different to a bent part.
I have a part with a very large constant radius, and have developed the part. However, the developed length is different from my hand-calculation. On a part of approximately 1130mm long,I have an error of about7mm.
My understanding in my hand calcuation is that the developed lenth is the length of the flattened neutral axis, so around50% of the plate thickness. My plate is 100 thick, so I used the centre axis of the plate.
For my flat pattern, it appears as though the developed length uses the inside radius.
I have tried changing my k-factor, and (perhapsI made a mistake??), the developed length did not change. Is this because the k-factor only applies to bends, and not rolled features?
Thanks in advance
Dave
