Default Dimensions

Create "start parts" with units, named datums, named views, parameters, etc. and save them in a special (read only) directory. Same goes for assemblies and drawing templates. Then set the config.pro option start_model_dir.

template_designasm E:\wf2\templates\design_asm_mmns.asm

template_sheetmetalpart E:\wf2\templates\sheetmetal_part_mmns.prt

template_solidpart E:\wf2\templates\solid_part_mmns.prt

The paths can be different in your case.

It isn't essential to use start models to do this.

Put

pro_unit_length unit_mm

pro_unit_mass unit_gram

in your loadpoint config.pro.

Absolutely correct but templates let you do so much more. Also note that templates (start parts & asms) overide the config.pro settings. If you choose Empty for your template you will get the config.pro settings.

Two reasons why I do this and would recommend other do the same.

1. Use these settings (or equivalents) while you are settings up your
own start models so you can avoid using PTC's start models.

2. Even though I am running about 15 start models to suit many
different part requirements, just occasionally I want to start with a
truly blank model.

Also configure your loadpoint config.pro setting

start_model_dir

to point to where ALL your start models are saved so when you don't
want to use the default, it is much easier to select the one that best
suits your purposes.
