custom cycles

Does anybody have a custom drilling cycle for a back spot facer? The back spot face type in the picks is like a "G76" fanuc cycle. This cycle fires the spindle in a clockwise rotation. It then goes into the hole shifted off center. Once it clears the hole it moves back to center. Now it backs up to the back spotface depth. It reverses the movement the retracts. What I need is for an "erix" apot facing tool. This tool willstart ina counterclockwise rotation. There is what they call a wing and it is retracted in this direction. When it clears the hole in the bottom it swithces the spindle to a clockwise rotation and the wing will flip open. This wing has an insert on it. It then feeds back into the hole and cuts the back spot face. It moves back down to clearance point. The tool changes to a counterclockwise rotation and retracts outof the hole. I will start building this custom cycle next week but if someone allready has this cycle it will save me some work.

TIA

I would like to know how to create custom cycles also. I currently have a "work around". I program this type of cut using "trajectory". The cutter path is on the axis feeding down. Then I use "CL command" to reverse spindle, then another trajectory, or "GO DELTA", to feed back up, etc. This takes some time to do. It sure would be nice to have a custom cycle.

I just created one that uses the backside of the cutter as the "Z" axis control. I do not know how to upload the WORKCELL and the FIL file I created to output the code, but I will gladly do so if someone tells me how. If you want me to email the files to you, just email me and I will send youthe files.

Allen,

I thought about using a trajectory seguence but without some "XY" movement it usually does not work for me. I would like to see your sequence. PM me.

Allan, go to FILES-->MISCELLANEOUS area on this forum; you can upload ZIP files and such.
I'm looking forward to see it, thanks for sharing,

I have uploaded the files for your viewing pleasure. It is called "custom_cycle.zip". In it, there is the workcell, the FIL file, a text file to explain the references, a sample CL file, and the final tape output. This can be used like any other "holemaking" sequence. If you have multiple holes with the same "Z" depths, only one holeset is required.

I uploaded the files yesterday, but I still cannot find them. When I did it, I got the message "File uploaded, but content needs to be verified", or something like that. Can someone from the moderator group tell me if I did something wrong.

Give it some time... they may be checking for porn or something, hehe
Thanks anyway !!

I have a working custom cycle. Allen P got me going on this issue. This cycle not only took a custom cycle but a custom fil file as well. Allen helped me out on both issues. If you look at his file he put on this site you can see how it works and understand what we were doing. I have a thrid party post built for the type of production we do in our shop. It does not help with prototype. I am going to build a few new posts for doing prototye and tooling. I can say that I have gone full circle with posts and I will learn gpost to work with these kind of issues. ICAM was our first post and at the time it was a mess when I took over manufacturing in pro. I went with gpost and with the help of "Rand" and a good friend, I got the results that I needed. I went with the third post software because it saved me a lot of programming time. My new post processor works well but I have to pay for every thing I want to have configured. As I dig deeper into promanufacturing I'm sure I will need more post customizing to get the required results. For any of you that have checked out custom cycles I am sure you see what you can do with pro manufacturing to make it more powerful than it allready is.
