Cosmetic thread problems

Hi

I have to make a bunch of parts of a bicycle pump in solidworks for a school asignment. One of the parts is a threaded rod. When I try to add acosmetic thread to my extruded circle (cylinder) Solidworks tells me the thread has been added, yet I see nothing. Can anyone help me with this?

The cylinder has a diameter of 5mm and I need to put standard M5 threads on there. the pipe is 27mm long

In the Part design Interface, select tools>options>, in the
"Systems options- general" window, click "Document
properties" tab, select "Detailing" and choose "cosmetic
threads" and "shaded cosmetic threads".
