Change dataserver in Intralink3.x

I'm wondering is it possible to connect to different dataserver within a single install of Intralink by rewrite oredit some files? Just like we can change license server by edit <Intralink cmd name>.bat.

Is there anyway to change data server without using ptcsetup.bat in Intralink3.x?

I can't find any infomation about the data server in installed files.

Thanks~

hi,

it is possible to connect to a different data server using a single installation

all u will have to do is search for a file named, tnsnames.ora in your installation directory
open it using notepad, and edit the server name in tht file.

if u dont want to keep doing this manually

then u can save a copy of tht file (tnsnames.ora) rename it (say tnsnames1.ora)
and then modify the bat file tht u use to launch the client, by opening it in notepad and changing the tnsname file in it

thanks
Rohit

Hi~ Rohit

Thanks for your reply.

I only find this probably related to tnsnames.ora in bat file.

--> set TNS_ADMIN=%prodir%

How to modify this, can I change it with full path name like below?

--> set TNS_ADMIN=c:/ptc/intralink34/tnsnames1.ora

If this is not what you mention about, I can't find anything about "tnsnames" in <intralink cmd name>.bat .

Thanks~

Elliott

You have to open the file tnsnames.ora in a text editor
like notapad.
In this file you will see the name for the dataserver.

I have made some batch scripts that will skal the user
which dataserver to connect to.
